Venice
In Venice, discovering perfume is as much about places as bottles. A former pharmacy turned boutique, a bookshop with a dedication to olfactory culture and Palazzo Mocenigo's perfume itinerary: three stops connecting architecture, history and experience.
A historic pharmacy, a bookshop and a palazzo
A subjective selection, not an inventory. Check each shop's website for opening hours and visiting arrangements. Some places require an appointment. Address-geocoded map points: © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- The Merchant of Venice — San Fantin
Campo San Fantin, San Marco 1895, 30124 Venice
For a shop worth the detour in its own right. This former pharmacy preserves the neo-Gothic setting designed by Giambattista Meduna in 1846: wood panelling, niches and sculptures form a distinctive backdrop to the house's fragrances. Take time to look as well as smell.
- Libreria Studium — The Merchant of Venice
San Marco 337, Calle de la Canonica, 30124 Venice
For extending your discovery through books and raw materials. This international bookshop includes a space dedicated to perfume culture and a perfume organ used for workshops. Composition classes require advance booking: an experience to arrange, not a permanent drop-in activity.
- Palazzo Mocenigo
Santa Croce 1992, 30135 Venice
Not a perfume shop, but a visit in its own right for understanding fragrance's place in Venetian history. The palazzo brings together costumes, textiles and a dedicated perfume itinerary. Museum admission applies: check tickets, opening times and any room restrictions before visiting.
